The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced dates for the conduct of the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
President Akuffo Addo has stated that all final year students in the Junior High Schools (JHS) across the country are to report to their various schools on June 29,2020, to continue with their Academic work ahead of their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The President made this revelation on Sunday, May 31, 2020, during his tenth state address on the update of events concerning COVID-19 pandemic.

Candidates of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) are expected to resume for Academic Work on June 22, 2020, according to President Akuffo Addo.
The president also indicated that Form 2 Gold Track SHS Students are also expected to join the WASSCE Candidates on the same date to continue with their First Semester.
In an update by the Ministry of Education, JHS pupils will resume for official learning on June 29, 2020 and take an eleven-week extensive tutorial after which they will write their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from September 14 to September 18, 2020.
Final year WASSCE Candidates will report to school on June 22, after which they will write their WASSCE six weeks later, from August 3 to September 4, 2020.
In this regard, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) shall not conduct same examination for WASSCE Candidates across the West Afrtiac region in 2020 due to the different approaches to mabnaging bthe COVID-19 Situation in he various countries.
To this effect, the Ghana office of the West African Examination Council is in charge of setting questions for the ‘Ghana Exam’, a new name for the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
A latest document from the Ministry said the classes for the final year students in SHS will be split with not more than 25 students in attendance.
Additionally, JHS will have 30 pupils for classes which will start from 9:am to 1:pm each day with no breaks outside the classroom.
